Terms for Contributing Artists

Papaya Press will be making a small number of advance copies of Tell Me About the Dream available to artists who would like to illustrate, creatively bind, illuminate, vandalize, or otherwise decorate a copy of the book. Artists working in all mediums are welcome.

Send a message to @papayapressla on Instagram or email papayapress@duck.com by 11:59pm Los Angeles time on Saturday, September 21 if you are interested in collaborating. Please provide examples of your work (either links or images).

You may request a copy of the book in any format that works for your medium — bound (in purple or plain black paper covers) or disbound, sewn or unsewn, folded sheets or unfolded, etc.

The book will be on its way to you by the end of the day on Monday, September 23. You will be asked to cover the cost of shipping.

In return, you agree to...

  1. Post photos of your decorated copy on Instagram, with @papayapressla tagged, between October 20 and November 1 (but do not post any photos of the text of the book before October 20). You are also welcome to post your work on other sites, but please direct people back to @papayapressla on Instagram in the caption/text of your post.

  2. Be willing to take high-quality photos of your decorated copy and send them to papayapressla@duck.com by November 1 (for archival purposes and for posting on the Papaya Press website). If you aren’t able to take high-quality photos, you may be asked to ship the the book back to Papaya Press for photographing. Your copy will be returned to you within three weeks.

  3. If you ever decide to sell your copy of the book, you must sell it for more than the original publication price.

  4. If you run into any issues completing the project, please reach out as soon as possible.
